Harrison, NY

On the site of a 1920s movie theater in the heart of downtown Harrison, STA designed a residential development with 36 luxury apartment units just a short walk to trains into Grand Central. The building retains a portion of the old theater, using its marquee entrance for one of the apartment building’s entries, and preserving its commercial streetscape and sidewalk retail stores. An inviting cafe adds to the street buzz. Amenities within the building include large private and common landscaped terraces, community gardens, below-grade parking, a fitness center and yoga studio. With an emphasis on environmentally friendly design using passive house enclosure and systems, the development is the first in Westchester built to the FitWel standard, a collaboration of the CDC and the Center for Active Design that optimizes buildings to support health and wellness.
