MAVERICK CONCERT HALL
HISTORIC PRESERVATION
The barn-like structure was built by hand in 1916 as part of the Maverick Colony led by utopian writer and philosopher Hervey White.
Woodstock, NY
STA has led an intense, interactive collaboration of client, musicians, architects, engineers and contractors to address failing building fabric, introduce a water supply, replace one-holers with composting toilets, update electrical system and add new seating and an air conditioned green room. Drainage was improved to reduce the assaults of water on the antique wooden building and circulation routes reworked with appropriate wayfinding lighting. And more projects are planned. The hand-built “music chapel” embarks on its second century of uninterrupted summer use with its idiosyncratic artful design and patina intact.
