KEEPER’S HOUSE AT THE OLD CROTON AQUEDUCT

HISTORIC PRESERVATION

Dobbs Ferry, NY

STA brought this long-empty 1857 residence back to a useful life: waystation for the thousands of people who walk, jog or bike along the Old Croton Aqueduct trail, offices for NYS Parks staff and the volunteer Friends of the Old Croton Aqueduct, and interpretive education center presenting the many stories of the Aqueduct — a 41-mile stone tunnel that carried critically needed fresh water to a growing 19th century New York City.
